Scotland Excel is delighted to be partnering with the Digital Office for Scottish Local Government to deliver a ground-breaking event which will challenge the way delegates think about digital technologies.

Delivering on Digital will feature keynote speakers from the sector and industry experts.  Delegates will also take part in interactive sessions which explore the power of new technologies and discuss their application in a local government environment:

The sessions will focus on three key areas which could have a range of applications across local authority services:

Business Insights

How real-time information from multiple sources across the council can be brought together to support short-term tactical responses and long-term strategic decision making.

Digital Accounts

How a citizen’s identity can be verified remotely, in a secure online environment, enabling councils to improve the efficiency of their processes and provide convenient access to services for citizens.

Case Workers

How mobile staff working with citizens in the community, can be provided with remote access to case work files and the ability to record and upload new data during visits.

Chief Digital Officer for Scottish Local Government, Martyn Wallace said: “Scotland’s local authorities are on a digital journey that will fundamentally change the way they provide services to their citizens.

“The Digital Office has identified emerging good practice in this area but there is still considerable work required to redesign services that are easy for citizens to use.  Councils must create an environment which supports the development of digital solutions which make a difference to people’s lives.

“Delivering on Digital will involve stakeholders from across local government in discussions on what these solutions look like.  We will consider the ‘art of the possible’ offered by new technologies in a platform-neutral environment.”

Julie Welsh, Director of Scotland Excel said: “Collaboration is central to digital transformation in local government.  This event aims to get delegates thinking about how new technologies can be applied to service delivery which can help them take a significant step forward in specifying their system requirements.

“As the Centre of Procurement Expertise, we are working with the Digital Office to implement a range of innovative procurement approaches which will provide access to partners that can deliver the right digital solutions for the local government sector.”

Delivering on Digital is supported by leading technology company, DXC.  They will be hosting a Digital Transformation Centre which can help delegates visualise and accelerate their organisation’s digital transformation journey.

Delivering on Digital will take place at DXC’s offices in Erskine on 21 February 2019 from 10.00am to 4.00pm.  The event is open to local government employees with an interest in digital transformation and is free to attend.
