We have a wide range of innovative and sustainable construction frameworks including asbestos services, electrical materials, plumbing and heating materials, security (services and equipment), building and timber materials, engineering consultancy, and trade materials.
The requirement to deliver community benefits is embedded in the tender process for our frameworks and recently one of our suppliers in the electrical materials framework - Rexel - has delivered a £20,000 fund to give back to communities in the local authority areas which have used the contract.
The fund will be used to support a number of initiatives, including local food banks and providing free school meals to pupils during school holidays.
Our third generation building and timber framework is a leading example of how sustainable practices are embedded in our construction frameworks.
We worked closely with councils, Central Point of Expertise on Timber (CPET) and certification bodies (like Forest Stewardship Council and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) to fine tune the framework and evaluate bidders on their end-to-end management of the timber supply chain.
The result is that local authorities can purchase sustainably-sourced timber which meets regulatory and policy requirement without the time or expense of running further checks.
